Calypso Bathroom Trends
4th January 2021
As we near half way through the year, we have seen many early 2020 trends settle in, and already the exciting ‘sneak peaks’ of next year’s hottest trends are starting to show signs of arrival.
At Calypso Bathrooms we spend a lot of time sifting through appealing fashions across many markets and considering their link or possibilities with our bathroom furniture. Our photography demands high input to design and must always encapsulate elements of the latest trends. We love to remain trend-setting for bathroom furniture; from Dusky Pink finishes to brushed brass taps, our aim is to provide bathrooms that you will love for years to come. We also combine flooring, wall coverings and tile trends across our designs because quality bathroom furniture must always fit and complement these areas too.
Last year we saw the rise of Rose Gold finishes to our taps, handles and shower ranges. Interiors got a little darker and moodier, subtle colour became the norm, and smart integrated technology become a higher demand. All of these trends have stayed with us throughout 2020 making our bathrooms a more pleasant place to unwind.
Predicted trends
1. Brushed Brass
According to Country Living, Brass is the new Copper and will become a huge bathroom trend for the upcoming season. Get ahead of the emerging luxurious trend and pair it with dark colours such as our Brecon Marine Blue to create a statement look in any bathroom – but beware, too much Brass could lose its appeal. Take a look at our range of Brushed Brass Taps and Handles and our Brecon Marine Blue range for some inspiration.
2 . Handle-less Furniture
Our integrated handle ranges of Bowland and Selter offer a stunning way to avoid a handle protruding from your furniture. When space is tight (which is often the case in the bathroom) an integrated handle can certainly maintain that sleekness you need. Bowland is available in 6 finishes and Selter is now available in 5 finishes to suit any interior colour schemes.
3 . LED MIRRORS
LED Mirrors are an increasingly popular way to add a calm and relaxing mood light into your bathroom. LED Mirrors can be used as focal points to illuminate your show stopping bathroom or to offer a more subtle light for those late night bathroom trips. We love the striking lines on our Orba LED Mirror or try our illuminated shelf on the Tavira mirror.
4 . TRADITIONAL STYLED FURNITURE
As can be expected, traditional style furniture continues to impress. History repeats itself! The allure of a freestanding roll-top bath with a countryside view through the sash window is enough to make anyone fall in love with a traditional bathroom. With the Chelworth Vanity Furniture and Pentland Fitted Furniture from Calypso, you can bring the traditional look back into your bathroom with ease.
5 . STATEMENT TILES
Make a statement! Using powerful colour and pattern tiles can have a very positive impact on bathroom furniture; they help in creating a sophisticated, boutique or minimalistic look. Tiles can add substance, depth and create a stunning backdrop to your chosen furniture. In our recent photoshoot we used our Esperia vanity unit partnered with tiles from Ca’Pietra to create this trendy looking bathroom.
6 . Wallpaper
You heard it, that’s right! Wallpaper in the bathroom. Some of our rooms have put it to the test. We’ve used a wallpaper in this room from Graham & Brown that coordinates perfectly with the colour of the units and the rose gold accessories.
7 . THE NEUTRAL PALETTE
This isn’t technically a trend but colours have an enormous impact on us psychologically, emotionally and even physically. If you are feeling stressed, run yourself a bath and use colour to calm things down.
Blue – Peaceful, calm and gentle. Green – a restful and quiet colour. Pink – another tranquil and peaceful colour. White – clarity and freshness. Violet – signifies strength, peace and wisdom. Grey – a soothing and cooling presence. Yellow – feel lively and energetic.
This room illustrates how even the warmth of our Cheviot Frost Grey can create a soothing presence. Achieved by wall paint from Farrow & Ball – Dove Tale, floor tiles from Topps Tiles – Woodeves Grey Tile, and Wallpaper from Graham & Brown – Antique Taupe & Rose Gold Wallpaper.
That completes our current Calypso bathroom trends of 2020 and provides a safe bet to staying on tend for this year and beyond.
